Summer Black, staff writer

In the beginning, I wanted to join Journalism to help with the yearbook. After I joined the class, I was told that I would be writing stories and being a Journalist. I thought it would have been so cool to write about things that are hidden away because they are seen as bad. I love the fact that I am in Journalism, I can now talk about what really happens in Mental institutions and how the system is not working or true gender equality especially talking about how some feminists can be sexist also talking about true equality and how some people just do not want that. I can finally speak about the things that are seen as bad but genuinely need to be talked about. I wanted to join Journalism because I wanted to have a voice that is listened to. I want someone to know that they are not alone when a story comes out. Letting others know that it is not just one person's issue but a societal issue. I know that I want to know I am not alone when I go through something. That's what journalism is for me. A way to show that it is not just one person and that it is a societal issue.
