Drink in the Atmosphere at Local Coffee Shop
Kawa Coffee
Want to have the best aesthetically pleasing meal? Then I think you should try Kawa Coffee! It is a little coffee place in the Audubon Shopping center that serves a variety of healthy foods, baked goods, and drinks. The coffee shop makes sure to have a good and safe environment. The coffee is served in mugs, smoothies in mason jars, free wifi as well as spots to do your schoolwork!
I’m Sage Steele, a Sophomore at ECCO Odyssey and I have been to Kawa Coffee a few times now. With each time never being disappointed. But let me tell you about my favorite meal I have had there. I have had the Phoenix wrap with an Orange Italian Soda and a side of sea salt chips. The Phoenix wrap is a sriracha-mayo chicken wrap with bacon, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and avocado. I don’t usually go for spicy food but with how everything was combined it was delicious and 4-10 of spicy. But all together I would give it an 8 out of ten for how filling it was, how well it tasted, how fresh the ingredients tasted and how spicy it was. Only 8 out of 10 because of how expensive it was, $9.50. But, I personally love wraps and think that this was worth the money! I would definitely recommend the Phoenix, even if you don’t like wraps since you can choose what it goes into like a bagel, tortilla or a croissant.
There are many other choices if you don’t like anything in a wrap on a bagel. There are also salads, you can make your own choosing from a variety of different toppings or you can turn a wrap into a salad. I did this with the Hercules which was originally in a wrap. Which turned out to be very delicious and refreshing! It is turkey, roasted red peppers, spinach, cucumbers, kalamata olives, onions, feta cheese and dill sauce but now on lettuce. When I read it I didn’t think I would like it but I tried it and everything tasted fresh and it all came together, not to mention how aesthetically pleasing it looked before I ate it. Definitely something for someone who wants to try something healthy! It was also $9.50 and I would give it a 7 out of 10 since it was very good and tasted fresh but wasn’t my favorite because of my taste preference.
Time for the drinks, I had a chai, raspberry smoothie and their Italian sodas. The smoothies are definitely a must try if it is a hot day, since they are a nice fruity drink. (don’t forget to add whipped cream) The price goes from $4.75 to $5.75 depending on the size that you get. Kawa Coffee’s Italian Sodas are also very good! If you don’t know what one is, they are a combination of soda water, ice, flavoured syrup and cream all in one. I would say that they are creamy bubbly water with flavor, not the best way to describe it. But they aren’t for everyone, I personally love them, because they don’t have too much sugar in them and they still have the soda type taste to it. An Italian Soda is $3.50 to $4.00 also depending on the size that you get. Now, their hot Chai is something I could recommend for the cold weather that is coming up! It is very creamy and I have to say it is better than Starbucks, and it does not have the overpowering taste of chai. The price ranges from $4.00 to $4.75, also with add ons of flavor and extra ingredients. But what I think is the best part is that if you choose to stay in the coffee shop they bring your chai in a nice mug just for you. It brings that comfort and aesthetically pleasing sense in the shop.
I definitely recommend that more people come to Kawa Coffee and enjoy their delicious meals and drinks. Or even if you just need to get homework done, and have a small drink. The staff there are very sweet and they do an amazon job serving things out fast and greeting people. Overall I would give a 9 out of 10 for the shop, great food, a bit expensive, good customer service, student friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Kawa Coffee is definitely worth coming to, they are open weekdays from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am to 4:00pm! (They are closed on Sundays) If you do want to take my recommendation, it is located at this address; 2427 North Union Blvd Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909.
