You, I, We, All

A poem from a female mechanic’s perspective…
You, I, We, All

You see me, a lesser

You watch me so closely

You say, “Just let me do it.”

You think that you’re the only

You end up creating a mess

You make me feel like I don’t belong

You keep putting me to the test

You feel I need to be redrawn

I work with more dedication

I pay very close attention

I see the value in this education

I don’t want any complication

I only wish for celebration

We work harder than you’d think

We try too hard to get little back

We commend one another for our progress

We only wish for some respect

We hear these things told to us almost every day

We build ourselves up

We must persevere to remain in the game

We don’t mean to interrupt

But please, for a moment, listen up

In this world

You, I, We

All need some compensation

All hope for change

All run towards that end destination

All work on the same range

So in the end, aren’t we, just us?

A group of people, who love things with an engine

Who can’t stand poor maintenance

A few individuals who look for dimension

Even when the world crashes

The mechanical ones

End up needing to work together

So please stop forgetting who’s behind these gloves
